Fillings

In pediatric dentistry, there are certain restorative materials or fillings that we typically use.  The type of filling material that we choose for your child depends on multiple factors including the following:

  •  The extent and depth of decay present
  •  The amount of healthy tooth structure remaining
  •  The expected length of time that the child will maintain the tooth
  •  Concerns for esthetics

We only use esthetic white composite restorations for simple fillings.  No mercury amalgam fillings are used.  For teeth that are more involved, options for stainless steel crowns would be recommended.  Before your child’s treatment begins, Dr. Skolnick or Dr. DeLucia will discuss all options for your child and a treatment plan would be drafted for your approval.
